The first and only thing I wanted to do when I got home from work today was listen to Tyler Lyle’s new album entitled The Golden Age & The Silver Girl. If I were more articulate these days I would do a proper album write-up. Some things just speak for themselves.
Once upon a time, I was an artist in a band called Besides Daniel. I remember one weekend we recorded in Mom & Dad Lyle’s basement. It was Good Friday. The three of us bought some cheap wine and a baguette. We sat indian style on Tyler’s floor to read the Book of Common Prayer service and take communion. The music we recorded that weekend was given away on our first tour. We called it the “Close to Home” tour because we really didn’t go too far.
Today, Tyler is not close to home and neither is Besides Daniel. He is in Hollywood. I am in Boston. Besides Daniel just biked from Atlanta to West Palm Beach. And so it goes. Life takes it’s turns and moves right along. To quote one of my favorite songs by Tyler, “Time moves steady along. It’s a similar tune for a different song.”
Without further ado or personal anecdotes, please take a listen, and if you like what you hear the album is only $6 for 12 tracks at tylerlyle.bandcamp.com.
